De KTM-boys over hun race in Trentino
The MXGP caravan remained on Italian soil, but swapped the sands of Sardinia for the hard-pack of Trentino in northern Italy for round four of the 2024 campaign. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing took the MX2 victory for the second year in a row thanks to Liam Everts, who scored 3-2 on the day and on the slippery, stony and rough course with a large crowd on the grass slopes of Pietramurata.
Liam Evert: "This weekend was a step in the right direction. It wasn't a perfect weekend, but we got the job done. It's nice to be at the top again, especially in this iconic location. I had a hard time in Sardinia, so I wanted to do better and be on the podium. I wanted to take that burden off my shoulders and I hope that now I have that feeling of freedom to continue. We will now take a small break and then work hard towards the next Grand Prix."
Sacha Coenen: "A very good first heat. I was in the lead for a while and then was passed by two riders but couldn't make it to the finish. It was a technical problem and just bad luck. I really wanted to win the second moto but we had a starting collision. Disappointing. Last to 11th and not what I wanted, but we hope for better in Portugal."
Andrea Adamo: "After yesterday I felt confident for today but this is the way it is and we cannot change the result. The speed was there and everything was on point, but I didn't make the best starts. It was really hard to get past it. I made a mistake in the first moto and at the start of the second I was in the middle of the mess. We will now recover, relax and work in the coming weeks to rebuild motivation for Portugal."
Jeffrey Herlings: "I clearly had the speed to be on the podium today. I came from P20 to pass a lot of guys and reach P4 in the first moto and in the second I had a really good start but the rear washed out and that meant another setback, this time to seventh. It's quite a shame, because I had the pace to maybe go for the win. Two of the three starts this weekend were good and my feeling was really good, especially with my ribs… we just didn't have the result! Anyway, we're going home in one piece and we still have sixteen races to go. I should be completely fit and ready in Portugal."
