A great performance by Calvin Vlaanderen in Trentino
You couldn't miss it. Calvin Vlaanderen of the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing Team delivered a great race in Arco di Trento by scoring fourth place in the daily standings.
Throughout the weekend, Flanders showed exceptional speed on the rough, technical and slippery Ciclamino Circuit. Despite starting in the middle of the pack in the first race, the fiery number 10 fought his way through the field and rose as high as fifth, before losing a position to Jeffrey Herlings in the closing stages. Ultimately he crossed the finish line in sixth place.
Flanders knew he had the speed to compete for the podium and rocketed to a top three starting spot in race two. Despite losing second place early on to Romain Febvre, the South African regained that spot when the Frenchman crashed on lap six and held that position until the checkered flag.
After an encouraging weekend in the MXGP of Trentino, Calvin retains his seventh position in the MXGP World Championship standings. After a promising fourth round, the 2024 FIM Motocross World Championship will resume on the weekend of May 4 and 5 in Agueda, Portugal.
Calvin Flanders: "I'm definitely happy with my results this weekend! I was fast all weekend. First in the free practice, third in the timed practice and today I also had good speed. I'm really happy with the steps we've made and it was nice to show the result of all the hard work in race two. We're getting better and I'm motivated for more, but first I'm going to get some rest before we get back to the start of round five."
