Liam Everts pact is zege in Arco di Trento
Liam Everts has won his first GP of the season. Today he won in Arco di Trento in the MX2 class thanks to a third and second place in the series. Last year he already took a podium place there. Thibault Benistant and Simon Laengenfelder finished second and third respectively in the final standings.
First series
It was another resounding series victory for the Wolf in the first round with Thibault Benistant and Liam Everts as the first pursuers. Sacha Coenen disappeared from the race with a few laps to go due to an unknown problem.
Second series
The holeshot went to Simon Laengenfelder in the second series. However, in the first corner there was a crash with Kay de Wolf, Marc-Antoine Rossi and Rick Elzinga as the main victims. After Laengenfelder, it was Andrea Bonacorsi and Liam Everts who called the shots at the front.
Everts got into Bonacorsi's wheel and launched his first attack. It was immediately successful, giving the Lummen native second place, which is important for a possible final victory.
In the meantime, Kay de Wolf was racing through the field of participants and was already in P7 after 11 laps. His buddy Lucas Coenen of the Negaan Husqvarna Factory Racing Team took out the pain in P8.
Laengenfelder steadily increased his lead over Everts. Kay de Wolf then took the position of Lucas Coenen who was in P8, but then innocently lied down and had to give up his position again. Then Coenen in turn lay down, allowing the Dutchman to come alongside again.
Liam Everts continued to drive flawlessly in P2. The result is another GP victory for the Red Bull KTM rider, his fourth in his young career. It was very nice to hear the Brabançonne sounding through the foothills of the Dolomites. Laengenfelder wins the second series and thus moves into third place in the daily rankings. Kay de Wolf reached 8th place and naturally remains leader in the standings.
The riders from the Motocross World Championship will now get three weeks of rest because the next GP is that of Portugal and will be held on May 5 in Agueda.
