Webb wins a mighty match against Sexton
After a powerful duel with Chase Sexton, Cooper Webb has won the eleventh round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 450SX. The Yamaha rider had to do everything he could to beat Sexton, but he succeeded with a minimal difference. Jett Lawrence completed the podium, he now has a 16 point lead over Webb in the standings.
The best start seems to go to Jason Anderson but he goes into the hold in the first corner and sees Sexton take the lead. Adam Cianciarulo and Ken Roczen also slip past Anderson, who moments later also sees Shane McElrath pass. Webb and Lawrence are currently riding shoulder to shoulder in seventh and eighth place respectively. Roczen takes over second place while Cianciarulo drops back and loses third place to Webb after three laps! The Star Racing rider sets a high pace and after he passes Roczen a little later the finale really comes to life. After all, Lawrence is also getting up to operating temperature and he goes hunting for Webb. The Australian makes the connection in the first half of the match, but he is too hasty. He hits Webb's back and falls. Webb remains one second behind Sexton for a long time, but it is very exciting. Then Sexton brakes his machine for a moment, allowing Webb to take the lead! It's going hard because Sexton comes back and takes back the lead, but Webb doesn't let that happen. It's a finish to die for with Webb the winner ahead of Sexton. Lawrence finishes third ahead of Aaron Plessinger and Roczen.
Next week the championship will travel to Saint Louis, followed by a free weekend for the drivers and teams.
