'A cross has never been canceled in Gemert'
Last winter the Wolfsbosch circuit was more of a swimming pool and sometimes also an ice rink. The entire courtyard was completely flooded. At the opening of the new cross season, cancellations are flying around your head due to all the rain. Not so in Gemert! The first competitions on the circuit will take place next weekend. Saturday the youth. Between 150 and 200 young riders participate, in the 50cc to 125cc classes, as well as mini-quads and a few regional enthusiast classes. Talent Chris Verhagen, barely six years old, is also participating. About 250 adult drivers will appear at the start on Sunday.
At the table in the comfortable club building of the circuit, Arie Crooijmans and Willy and Toon van Mil philosophize about changes that are currently occurring in the motocross world. “There are two umbrella associations in our world. The KNMV, which stands for Royal Dutch Motorcyclists Association, and the MON, the Motorsport Organization of the Netherlands. We were affiliated with the KNMV and when the second cross club in Gemert stopped a few years ago, we added the MON competitions.
