Herlings fights with Febvre for victory in Harfsen
It was already clear in advance that the match for the day's victory would be between Jeffrey Herlings and Romain Febvre. The fighting cocks fought a great duel on 'Circuit Peppelenbos' with not only Herlings but also the audience as the big winner. The reigning champion won both rounds but the Frenchman fought like a lion against the Dutch lion. Calvin Vlaanderen completed the podium, but the Yamaha rider had to settle for a supporting role.

Herlings is the fastest man in training and he also gets the best start in the first heat. The KTM rider is followed by Jakub Teresak, Jere Haavisto, Febvre and Adam Sterry. There are problems for Flanders, who does not move from his position when the starting gate falls and has to start the race last. Herlings comes out of the first round as leader ahead of Haavisto, but the Finn has to bow to Febvre not much later. The Frenchman is slightly behind Herlings, but this is cleared by the Kawasaki rider. After ten minutes of the match, Febvre takes the lead and the reigning champion does not lose sight of his rival. The audience enjoys it and in the last five minutes Herlings increases the pressure further and further. With success because three laps before the end the 29-year-old rider grabs his rival and takes back the lead. Febvre comes second for Flanders, who managed to fight back very well to third place. Haavisto, the strongest in Oss last week, takes fourth place ahead of beach boy Jeremy Knuiman, who rides another hell of a race. Freek van der Vlist (MX88 Motorsport) crosses the finish line in sixth ahead of Albin Gerhardsson. After a mistake, Sterry (Schmicker Racing) has to settle for eighth place ahead of Micha Boy de Waal (JH MX Service) and John Adamson (Lexa MX-Husqvarna) completes the top ten.

The last start of the day, Herlings and Febvre dive into the first corner shoulder to shoulder. It is 'The Bullet' who takes the lead, but Febvre does not lose sight of his rival. Haavisto starts the race in third place, but Flanders passes in the next round. It's like playing poker at the front because who is bluffing who in this second round in 25 minutes and a round. The 2015 world champion is putting his best foot forward, but taking over the lead is not an option. Herlings also wins the second heat ahead of Febvre and Flanders comes third almost a minute behind. Haavisto now crosses the finish line in fourth ahead of Sterry. Van der Vlist is again good for sixth place, now ahead of Petar Petrov (JTX Racing) and Knuiman. After a poor start and a mistake, De Waal came back very well to finish ninth again ahead of the Swede Gerhardsson.
Next time:
This championship will continue in two weeks, on Easter Monday (April 1) the points will be distributed on the beautiful Oldebroek circuit.
