Electric machines are also making their debut at AMPL
As in other championships, and with the FIM and InFront Moto Racing announcing last weekend the arrival of an electric motorcycle world championship in 2026, electric machines are also making their debut in the AMPL championship. From this season, electric motorcycles can compete against their combustion engine rivals.
In line with the FMWB's plans, the AMPL will amend its sporting regulations to allow machines with electric motors from the 2024 season. They will be allowed in all adult categories (the latter being 'Open' at the AMPL), with the exception of MX2 Inters. At the Inters the machine is only accepted at the MX1's.
In addition, the federation has specified on its website the safety measures imposed on owners of electrical machines, in particular the obligation to be in possession of an approved, ready-to-use 6-liter F-500 Lithium fire extinguisher. Good to know if you plan to participate in an AMPL event with your electric machine!
The AMPL season opens on March 23 and 24 at the Libin circuit.
