Cas Valk wins both heats in Harfsen
With two wonderful victories, Cas Valk has won the first competition of the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross 250cc. The KTM rider managed to take the day's victory at the Harfsen circuit by being the first to pass both heats under the checkered flag. Rick Elzinga (2-3) finished second in the daily rankings ahead of Spaniard Oriol Oliver (4-2).

Last year in the EMX125, Maximillian Werner regularly managed to get the best start. The switch to the 4-stroke has been well digested by the German. He takes the best start in the first moto ahead of Scott Smulders and Elzinga. However, the former champion quickly takes the lead ahead of Bradley Mesters who also quickly passes Werner. Valk needs some time, but he works his way forward in a controlled manner. The gap when Valk arrives in second place is already about five seconds. Mesters has third place ahead of Oliver, but he just can't get by. Later, Hakon Fredriksen joins this match for third place. He manages to pass both, allowing the Norwegian to take third place. The stragglers create tension because Valk sneaks closer to the leader. Just before the sign for the last lap goes out, the rider from Nijverdal manages to take the lead. Elzinga settles for second place ahead of Fredriksen. Oriol still manages to pass Mesters for fourth place. On the Kosak-KTM, 17-year-old Mesters finished fifth ahead of JM Honda rider Werner. Kooiker (Schmicker Racing) is back behind the starting gate after a year of injuries and finished seventh. Arvid Luning (Youngmotion-Resa) is eighth ahead of DAM Racing driver Wesly Dieudonné and Sander Agard-Michelsen (JP Xtreme).

Werner also had the best start in the second start, but the race was stopped early due to a red flag situation. After dropping from the starting gate, Oliver takes the lead ahead of Werner and Dave Kooiker. Elzinga, Mesters and Valk also started this heat well. The winner of the first moto quickly works his way to the front and after he passes Elzinga, KTM riders Kooiker and Oliver also have to make way. After more than five minutes of the match, Valk takes the lead and never relinquishes it. 21-year-old Oliver crosses the finish line second ahead of Elzinga. Just like in the first round, Fredriksen needs to warm up, the WZ Racing rider manages to finish fourth, but he lost sight of the top three early in the race. Mesters now crosses the finish line in fifth ahead of Kooiker and fast starter Werner. Now Agard-Michelsen (JP Xtreme Xperience Team) is good for a nice eighth place with his 2-stroke Yamaha. The Finn Sampo Raino (Youngmotion-Resa) takes ninth place ahead of former EMX65 champion Smulders on the KMP Honda.
Next time:
This championship will continue in two weeks, on Easter Monday (April 1) the points will be distributed on the beautiful Oldebroek circuit.
