Yentel Martens has to go under the knife a second time
Yesterday Yentel Martens went to the doctor for a check-up and was told that he had to undergo surgery a second time. The metalwork that was placed in a French hospital was allegedly not properly applied to Martens' neck.
He had a hard fall during the Enduropale in Le Touquet and broke two cervical vertebrae. Martens was operated on a day later in a French hospital. Next week there will be another operation to correct the problem.
Yentel Martens on social media: "Visited my doctor in Belgium today and I didn’t get the news I was hoping for. He saw on the scan that the plate and screws in my neck they put in the hospital in France are not placed on the good way. So I have to undergo an other surgery on my neck next week. When all that is sorted I can start to work to get fit again. Big thanks to Dr Toon Claes and Dr Fransen for seeing me asap."
