SuperEnduro: Billy Bolt wins again despite injury
Three-time world champion Billy Bolt was injured last weekend during the German Grand Prix. He suffered from a sore leg, but still managed to win by taking advantage of his opponents' setbacks. The Brit also remains leader in the standings after the match in Riesa.
During time training, Billy Bolt (Husqvarna) had a heavy fall when landing after a jump. The Englishman rarely makes mistakes but this one could have cost him his German GP. Courageously, the Husqvarna driver decided to take part in the race anyway, so as not to lose all the precious points that a failure would have caused. Jonny Walker (Beta) made the best start in the first race, but Billy Bolt soon overtook him and took control of the lap.
But because the pain was quite intense, Bolt could do nothing against the attack of his compatriot who took the lead in the first final. A few laps before the end of the heat, Walker suffered a mechanical failure that allowed Bolt to regain the lead. Bolt was able to win this heat.
In the second race Walker managed to take the lead again while Billy Bolt lagged slightly behind. But he is gradually catching up. He comes back to Walker who just then makes a mistake and has to let his compatriot pass late. Bolt won his third GP of the season. Walker finished second ahead of home rider Manuel Lettenbichler. In the championship standings he has 16 points more than Walker.
