MX Hoegaarden Racing team makes its return
The Mx Hoegaarden Racing Team is making its return with a youth motocross team! Michel Vanderveken, father of Els Vanderveken and father-in-law of Seppe Abts, already ran a cross team in the 90s and 00s. Now Els and Seppe wanted to do something together in the sport and that is why the MX Hoegaarden Racing Team was created. The team is happy to introduce their drivers for the coming season.
The first of three drivers is Jul Abts from Hoegaarden. He made his competitive debut last year but he is learning quickly! Of the 17 competitions, he managed to climb onto the podium in 13 of the 50cc initiation and thus captured the title. This season he finished second in the 65cc Small Wheels Championship. Next season Jul wants to try one step higher and he will be seen at MON (Netherlands), DAMCV (Germany) and JMS (Belgium).
The second rider in the team is 7-year-old Ilja Wuyts. The Limburger managed to win the animation 5cc series title at the age of 50. This makes him the youngest champion in Belgian history. After this year, Ilja will want to take it a step further next year. Just like Jul, he will be seen at MON, DAMCV and JMS.
9-year-old Sybe Jonckers lives in Holsbeek. He will also be active in the 65cc class and hopes for a few places of honor at the JMS next season!
Mx Hoegaarden thanks their sponsors for 2024; Bakery Het Brood, Vema concrete, Juliusbakery, Bakery Sven, Dam Racing, mxbrace, Werner Sp painting/designs, Jimmy D'hondt and HVC.
