FIM E-Xplorer World Cup announces 2024 calendar
The FIM E-Xplorer World Cup – a new advanced, international electric all-terrain motorcycle racing series – yesterday announced its 2024 calendar plans, with five events including three double-headers planned across two continents as the electric motorcycle racing series kicks into high gear for the next season.
The series, which has a male and female rider on each team and drives sustainability by electrifying the sport, has paved the way for the future of motorcycle racing and the announcement of a truly global calendar is testament to the success of the first year.
After a very successful first season in 2023 – in which the 'World Cup' took place in several European rounds – with races in Barcelona, the Swiss mountains of Crans Montana, the volcanic forests of Vollore-Montagne in the French Auvergne and the sandy beaches of Sardinia, the series plans to expand from Europe and take its message of electric motorcycle racing to Asia.
The 2024 campaign will start in Japan in February, then in Norway in May, France in June, Switzerland in September and India in December.

FIM E-Xplorer: sporty, technical regulations and track update
E-Xplorer is an endurocross discipline with exclusively electric dirt bikes. In 2024 there will be two categories participating in E-Xplorer.
1) Hyperbikes, which allows prototype machines with batteries up to 7kwh and a standard wheelbase of an MX motorcycle to participate.
2) GTs, a shorter motorcycle weighing less than 112 kg, with batteries producing up to 6 kWh. The GTs are based on regular production models, but are heavily modified for competition.
Endurocross combines the high speeds of motocross with the challenging obstacles synonymous with enduro racing. The circuits are at least 400 meters long and 4 to 10 meters wide. To test the riders' skills, the courses contain a mix of tough obstacles such as rocks and logs, as well as unpaved jumps and bumpy sections to enhance the spectacle.
E-Xplorer races take place in both unspoilt nature and the bustling city landscape. These races aren't just about speed; it's about rider skill, strategy and promoting the latest technology.
Here's what you can expect on race day:
- Free Practice: A chance for riders to get to know the track.
- Qualifying Rounds: Where riders race against the clock in ten-minute sessions to battle for the best starting spot in the main races.
- Main Events: The E-Xplorer opening ceremony will be followed by three separate 10-minute races for both men and women.
- Team Play-Off: The top four teams – based on their scores from previous races – compete against each other in a sprint relay duel. Each rider completes a lap and the best teams advance to the final.
