Cyril Genot wins the Bud Sand Race in Magescq.
Our compatriot Cyril Genot has won the “Bud Sand Race” in Magescq, the second stage of the French sand championship. The Honda rider took his first victory of the season in the CFS ahead of Lars van Berkel and Florian Miot.
After winning the pre-season race in Loon and taking second place in the opening race in Berck, Cyril Genot topped the podium of the race on the Magescq sand circuit this Sunday.
The motorcycle race, which ended the weekend, was marked by a massive crash in the first few seconds of the race. This crash led to a stoppage of the race and sidelined three favorites, including provisional leader Milko Potisek. The severity of the injuries is unknown, although there are rumors of a broken leg. Milko Potisek was treated by emergency services, as were Camille Chapelière and Alexis Collignon.
In the meantime, the remaining riders prepared for a restart, with the race shortened to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Cyril Genot started in the lead and never relinquished this position. The Dutchman Lars Van Berkel and the Frenchman Florian Miot finished second and third. Matteo Puffet put in an excellent performance to finish fourth on his KTM, ahead of Jeremy Hauquier's Honda. Daymond Martens finished 8th.
Cyril Genot is the provisional championship leader as they prepare for the third meeting of the French Beach Championship in Loon-Plage next weekend. In the Belgian camp there was also a victory for Amandine Verstappen among the ladies. A Belgian also won in the Quads. Randy Naveaux won the race ahead of Keveen Rochereau. Davino Bruneel and Oliver Vandendijck finished 10th and 11th respectively.
