New group led by Louis-Dreyfus, Sartori and CEO Bailey take charge of future of WSX!
SX Global, the organizers of the FIM Supercross World Championship (WSX), today confirmed the sale of their company to an investment group led by experienced sports investors Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Juan Sartori. The duo joins SX Global CEO Adam Bailey to form the new ownership and leadership group.
Louis-Dreyfus is a highly successful French businessman who in 2022 became the youngest chairman in the history of English football when he acquired a controlling stake in the former League One, now Championship club, Sunderland A.F.C. He also has interests in renowned French football club Olympique de Marseille and esports organization Ovation.
“We see exciting opportunities for this championship and can't wait to bring the fun of the sport and the talent of these amazing athletes to more people around the world.”
“As we strive to expand and elevate WSX into a world-renowned championship, we also recognize the need for immediate, short-term changes to ensure a better future. There is a lot of work to do, but we look forward to the challenge.”
Sartori is a successful Uruguayan businessman, senator and co-owner of Sunderland A.F.C. next to Louis-Dreyfus. He is the president and founder of Union-Group, a private investment company with significant interests in various industries worldwide. He is also a board member and vice-chairman of top French football club AS Monaco FC.
“I am incredibly excited to be involved in this fresh start for SX Global and the FIM Supercross World Championship,” said Sartori.
“Supercross is an incredible spectacle with enormous potential. I am very much looking forward to taking on the task of growing the sport and bringing it to more fans and new venues around the world.”
As one of the original founders of SX Global and a long-time executive in the motocross and supercross industries, Bailey looks forward to working with Louis-Dreyfus and Sartori. He started his career as a competitive athlete and fan of the sport before founding multiple companies in the fields of athlete sports management agency, sports marketing and event promotion. He also co-founded Australia's largest ever supercross event, the AUS-X Open.
He emphasized that WSX remains steadfast and focused on driving the long-term sustainability and growth of the championship, strengthened by the support and expertise of the new investment group.
“We are committed to building on our knowledge and experiences from our short 18-month history to deliver the ultimate fan experience and a world-class World Championship for athletes and fans alike. Our vision has always been to add value to motorsport and drive its growth globally – we have already put several plans and initiatives in motion that we hope to share soon,” Bailey continued. “We would like to thank our fans, supporters, athletes and teams for their support since our inception and into this next phase of our progress.”
