The last MXGP goes to Tim Gajser thanks to a double victory
The Slovenian HRC Honda rider Tim Gajser was the best in the British Grand Prix today. He won both heats in Matterley Basin and was flanked on the podium by Jeremy Seewer and Romain Febvre.
The first series was won by Gajser who defeated Jeremy Seewer and a well-started Glenn Coldenhoff. The holeshot in the second series went to Glenn Coldenhoff while world champion Jorge Prado crashed in the first corner and had to start the race last. Tim Gajser had started second, but already on the third lap he overtook Coldenhoff. Immediately afterwards, the Dutchman had Seewer visit and the Swiss really wanted to come alongside.
This also happened in round five, while Romain Febvre had joined in to join the party. Moments later he passed Coldenhoff. Prado, meanwhile, had been spotted in P18 and had to watch as his podium ambitions were dashed by the early crash.
Gajser quickly built up a large lead and then all eyes were on Romain Febvre who, after some effort, was able to take Seewer's place. The two will be teammates with the Kawasaki Racing Team next year.
Tim Gajser wins the second series quite easily ahead of Febvre and Seewer. The Slovenian wins the last GP of the year thanks to a double series victory. The world title went to Jorge Prado last week, who gave GasGas its first world title.
A final effort must be made within two weeks in Ernée because that is where the Motocross of Nations will be held. Team Belgium comes to “the Nations” with a strong team with Liam Everts, Jago Geerts and Lucas Coenen who certainly have ambitions to get a spot on the podium.
