Van Drunen wins the first round for Valk
After a long break, the FIM WMX World Championship has restarted at the Arnhem circuit. During the first round, Lotte van Drunen made it clear that she only came to the circuit next to the A50 for the victory. The Kawasaki rider won the first heat in front of a frenzied crowd ahead of compatriot Lynn Valk. Daniela Guillen wins the battle for third place over Courtney Duncan and fast starter Kiara Fontanesi completes the top five.
When the starting gate drops, Fontanesi takes the best start, the mother of two children is chased by Sara Andersen and Valk. The lady from Nijverdal manages to pass the Dense quickly and after ten minutes Fontanesi also has to make way. Valk takes distance and has a lead of more than five seconds over Van Drunen halfway through the race. The 16-year-old lady from Sliedrecht did not have the best start, but from tenth place she came forward strongly! Van Drunen manages to take the lead and wins by almost 10 seconds ahead of Valk. Guillen is battling with World Cup leader Duncan for third place. The Spaniard manages to resist the attacks and she comes third ahead of Duncan. Behind Fontanesi, Shana van der Vlist managed to cross the finish line in sixth place. The Apeldoorn native started the match in midfield, but she fought back well. Limburg's Britt Jans-Beken (9th) and Danee Gelissen (10th) also finish in the top ten! Amber Simons scores six points with a nice fifteenth place.
