Test: Mounting tires with the Tire mounting Tool
Mounting motocross tires can be a tough job. If you have little experience, you will end up with broken fingers, scratched rims and sweat on your back. Kauritmoto from Estonia has a handy tool in its range that makes installing tires a lot easier. Our colleagues from MXV have tested the Tire Mounting Tool.
What is it?
The Tire Mounting Tool is a handy tool for pushing motocross tires onto the rim without much force. You never damage the rim and you can mount the tire on the rim using leverage and a rack. As always, disassembly is done with the well-known tire spoons.
How does it work?
You push the axle into the opening where the wheel bearings of your wheels are located. The standard version is suitable for wheels from 16 inches to 21 inches and wheel bearings from 20 to 28 mm. But there are also attachments available for other rims with smaller diameters. A rack with a kind of U-shaped end pushes the tires without having to exert much force on the rim. (See videos)
What does it cost?
The standard device for wheels from 16 to 21 inches costs 144,20 euros + shipping costs. The complete package with all accessories for each type of wheel costs 244,02 euros. The company also has handy and very complete tire mounting equipment with all possible bells and whistles.
What we thought of it
It is not that we mount tires every day, but we have mounted many tires over the years. Installation has never been as easy as with the Tire Mounting Tool from Kauritmoto. No force required, no scratches on your rims and no broken fingers: we are fans of this handy tool.
