Grand anniversary edition of Keiheuvel in the making!
With a busy World Championship program, it is no longer possible for GP riders to participate in many competitions. But for the classic of the Keiheuvel in Balen on August 15, even the greatest are happy to make an exception. For the 100th (!) anniversary of this MX party, KMC Mol is also pulling out all the stops.
You can safely call it a mini GP in both MX2 and MXGP. The Keiheuvel has been a traditional home race for the Monster Energy Yamaha MX2 team for some time. This is even more the case with their Balense leader Jago Geerts. The chance that Jago will also drive there is small given the injury he sustained in Finland, but he will be present for meet-and-greet and autograph sessions.
Who is still on the MX2 participant list? Geerts' teammates Thibault Benistant and Rick Elzinga. The entire Negaan Husqvarna with Lucas Coenen, Roan van de Moosdijk and Kay De Wolf and the Red Bull KTM MX2 team with Liam Everts, Andrea Adamo and Sacha Coenen will also make an appearance.
The MX2 factory riders can expect strong resistance from the Huttenmetaal Yamaha boys Ivano Van Erp, EMX250 championship leader Andrea Bonacorsi and Karlis Alberts Reisulis.
Romain Febvre Vs. Jeffrey Herlings!
Jeffrey Herlings has already won the Sylvain Geboers trophy twice. In the MX1, the Dutch superstar is once again one of the big attractions of this edition. However, man in form Romain Febvre is also present! The Kawasaki factory rider has already won five GPs in a row and has also proven his speed in the sand.
Herlings will compete against Pauls Jonass, Brian Bogers, Benoit Paturel, Shaun Simpson, Max Nagl and Yentel Martens. In short, there is a lot of quality at the start in both the MX1 and the MX2. Last but not least, the Belgian MX of Nations team will be announced on August 15, which will take a shot at the world title for national teams in Ernée, France in October.
