Zanchi wins the first round in Arnhem
The first heat during the eighth race of the European 250cc Championship was won by Ferruccio Zanchi. The Italian is clearly in the hunt for a seat in the World Cup! The KTM rider won at the Arnhem circuit ahead of Andrea Bonacorsi, who had to settle for second place despite a strong final sprint. Ivano van Erp briefly took over the lead from fast starter Cas Valk, but thanks to a slide from the Ossenaar, Zanchi managed to win the most points. Despite a rear brake problem, Valk still finished third and still has every chance of winning the final.
Valk takes the best start ahead of Van Erp, Zanchi and the Swiss Nico Greutmann who plays for the Dutch SB KTM Racing. The top three quickly distance themselves while Kay Karssemakers does not have a good start. The Husqvarna rider trained the fastest but he gave himself a lot of work. Valk is allowed to set the pace for about 20 minutes and then Van Erp takes the lead. However, the Brabander makes a mistake a little later and disappears from the match. Valk drops back due to mechanical problems and Bonacorsi comes dangerously close to the leader. The attack on Zanchi is launched, but the Italians no longer change positions. Bonacorsi is doing well in the championship, Valk is third ahead of the Frenchman Quentin Marc Prugnieres and Haakon Osterhagen. Karssemakers rode a great race with a sixth place! Kjeld Stuurman is good for ninth place and Wesly Dieudonne is the best Belgian in fourteenth place. Unfortunately, the other Belgians and Dutch do not score in this match over 25 minutes and two rounds!
