Van der Werff extends lead again
Britt van der Werff won the competition in the women's class in Mill. The van der Laar Racing driver was supreme in the first round and defeated Amber Simons in the second round. With two heat victories she collected the full 120 points and made up for the damage suffered by Berghem. In the championship standings she now has a 64 point lead over Simons. Second place went to Gwenda Haans with a second and third place. Most unhappy of the day was Amber Simons.
Due to a fall, she did not get further than fifth place in the first heat. With second place in the second heat, she still managed to reach the podium. With third and fourth place in the heats, fourth place went to Kaylee van Dam. Lynn Kelders completed the top five with a fourth and fifth place in the heats. The next match for championship points in this class is on August 27 in Groesbeek.
First heat
It was Van der Werff who took off like an arrow and had the holeshot. Behind this came Haans, Simons, Van Dam and Kelders. It took until the third lap before Simons passed Haans. However, Van der Werff was already gone and had a gap of more than ten seconds. Van Dam and Kelders were already well behind Simons and Haans. Van der Werff was unstoppable in this heat and eventually won the heat. Behind them, Simons was held up by a straggler on the penultimate lap. This allowed Haans to close the small gap again. Haans had not really counted on this and hit Simons from behind. This caused Simons to hit an embankment on the inside of a bend and was launched. Haans took advantage of this and finished second in the heat. Simons had to recover from the hard fall and saw both Kelders and van Dam pass him by. Kelders finished third ahead of van Dam. Simons crossed the finish line in fifth place with a damaged engine.
Second heat
It was now Simons with the best start ahead of Van der Werff, Haans, van Dam and Kelders. In the second lap, van der Werff managed to take over the lead. Behind it, Haans drove quickly into a no man's land. Van Dam drove away from Kelders again far behind. Simons managed to catch up with van der Werff until halfway through the heat and then had to let her go. This ended all the fighting between the ladies. Van der Werff won again, Simons came second ahead of Haans. Van Dam followed close behind and was again followed by Kelders.
