Tim Gajser and Ruben Fernandez about their match in Loket
We were looking forward to seeing the Slovenian defending champion Tim Gajser, who appeared in the MXGP for the first time this year in the Czech Republic. During a spring competition in Arco di Trento he broke his thigh and had to watch and recuperate until now. But TiGa243 is back and in Loket he did well with 9th and 5th place in the heats. Check out what he and his HRC teammate Ruben Fernandez had to say.
Tim Gajser: “It was great to be racing again and seeing all my fans again, so I'm very grateful for that. Loket is always a difficult circuit and perhaps not ideal for my return, but overall it was a good weekend and a nice base to build on. The first moto was a bit of a struggle today, but I thought race two was a lot better and I found more rhythm. Passing is never easy here and I didn't want to go over the limit, so my results were about as good as I could get, but overall it was a good weekend for my first GP in 10 months. Lommel will certainly be a completely different experience, but I'm looking forward to racing as much as possible and building up my old level again.”
Ruben Fernandez: “Six-six for sixth isn't really where I want to be, but I never quite felt like I wanted to with the track. I know from experience that sometimes it's better to slow down on this track than to make a big mistake, but I still wanted to fight further to the front, so I'm a little disappointed with how it went. There are definitely areas I need to work on and although we have a short week before Lommel, I will do my best to improve and get ready for probably the toughest race on the calendar.”
