Damien Knuiman the new leader after double
With two heat victories, Damien Knuiman has also won the third race of the KNMV Open Dutch Championship 125cc. The 16-year-old rider won both heats on the beautiful Hellendoorn circuit. Roan Tolsma (2-2) did not make it easy for Knuiman, but he still had to settle for second place. Eric van Helvoirt (3-5) was allowed to climb onto the podium.

Freddie Gardiner takes the best start in the first heat, but the 14-year-old Briton is quickly passed by Maeron Peeters. The Belgian seems to be pulling away while Tolsma and Knuiman are battling each other for second place. Knuiman takes over second place halfway through the race. A lap later he is the new leader due to a fall from Peeters. The Husqvarna rider drops back to fourth place behind Van Helvoirt. This is passed a little later, but giving up is not an option for the Brabander. In the last corner he starts the attack, but Peeters doesn't just let that happen. Both men hit each other after which they fell, but that was just after the finish line. The official must jump out of the way with the finish flag so as not to interfere with the two teenagers. Both can continue on their own. Vince de Haas came in a good fifth place, who started the race outside the top ten. The Motor Centrum Eibergen-KTM rider takes a hard-fought fifth place.

When the starting gate for the second heat falls, Sem Taspinar (16) takes the best start. The Yamaha rider manages to hold on for a lap, but then Knuiman and Tolsma arrive. Tolsma takes the lead, but a little later it is Knuiman who takes over. However, the rider from Wijchen makes a mistake, causing Tolsma to take back the lead. Then Knuiman follows like a shadow and he lets Tolsma set the pace. In the final phase there is the final attack and with success. Knuiman also wins the second heat ahead of Tolsma. Taspinar can follow his predecessors in the first half of the match, but later he has to choose his own pace. The Buitenhuis Racing driver crosses the finish line in third place. The 16-year-old Peeters crashed in the first full lap, but he comes back and takes fourth place again, this time ahead of WLM rider Van Helvoirt.
