Hermans/Van den Boogaart win ONK Halle!
Koen Hermans and Ben van den Bogaart also managed to win the second ONK Sidecar Cross of 2023. In Halle, just like in Oldebroek, they came first twice. Keuben/Rietman finished second overall with a second and third place. Wilkinson/Millard finished third in the day's results with a fifth and third place in the heats.
In the first heat, Keuben/Rietman took the holeshot, but Hermans was immediately caught. A short fair yet fierce battle followed in which Hermans/Van den Bogaart eventually managed to take first place. Keuben/Rietman could not hold on to second place. A small somersault and being stuck cost them second place. Bax/Cermak, who, like the other sidecars, rode with a swingarm fork, came on strong and took second place, with Keuben in third. The Leferink brothers were in fourth place for a long time, but in the same place where Keuben was stuck earlier, they got so stuck that a good result was no longer achieved. Leferink and Keuben were not the only ones who got stuck in that particular spot, the last bend at the back that goes up the hill. Almost everyone was stuck there at some point, including winner Hermans who stood still for a short time during the slalom around other stranded sidecars. The chaos was grist to the mill for Wijers/Van der Putten who finished fourth with Wilkinson/Millard in fifth and Mulders/Van Deutekom in sixth at the finish.
In the second heat there was a holeshot for Hermans who saw the way open to win again. However, the sidecar stalled briefly and Bax/Cermak were now able to take the lead. This was only short-lived because Hermans later took first place again and drove it home neatly. Keuben/Rietman then took over second place from Bax but were never able to threaten Hermans in the slightest. Second place was the highest achievable for team Keuben. Wilkinson/Millard rode a solid race and now finished third in the heavy Achterhoek sand. Bax/Cermak had been through everything and finished in fourth place, but with a broken exhaust. So they had to go to the noise inspection and it was found that the machine made too much noise. As a result, Bax was put down in the results of the second heat. By putting Bax back, he was also prevented from reaching the podium and he now became prey for Wilkinson/Millard. Because Bax dropped from fourth place, Mulders/Van Deutekom were now fourth, Van de Lagemaat/Van Hal fifth and Van den Boomen/Van der Wiel sixth.
