Hermans/Van den Boogaart win ONK Sidecars Oldebroek!
Hermans/Van den Boogaart have won the chaotic ONK in Oldebroek. They won both heats with Keuben/Rietman second twice. The British Wilkinson/Millard took third place in total with a third and fourth place in the heats.
In the first heat, Hurkmans/Bax surprisingly took the holeshot, with Keuben/Rietman right behind. On the inside of the bend, Hermans and Wilkinson got into a tangle and only left in midfield. However, both combinations raced to catch up. Hermans/Van den Boogaart came forward well and had Bax/Cermak on the ropes until they wanted to put team Meulenbroek on a lap. Hermans came around the outside and Bax wanted to do this too, but he just chatted to Meulenbroek. So Bax stood still together with Meulenbroek. This again had a domino effect because the following combinations of Willemsen, this time with Aivar van der Wiel at his side, and Wilkinson also got stuck. A chaotic scene of which Bax/Cermak were the main victims. The machine only started again after a lap and more than a twelfth place at the finish was not possible. Hermans was now in first place at the front, with Keuben behind him in second place. This is how they would finish. Then at three it was suddenly the Leferink brothers who got Wilkinson/Millard in the neck at the end. Wilkinson was able to pass the brothers on the outside for third place, after which Leferink suddenly crashed! The Mulders/Van Deutekom, who had been riding strongly until then, also crashed into Leferink and saw a nice classification go up in smoke. Leferink himself was able to continue, but Hurkmans/Bax gratefully took fourth place at the finish with Leferink in fifth place. Van Werven/De Veene finished sixth with the always spectacular driving Willemsen/Van de Wiel in seventh.
In the second heat, Hurkmans was again well at the start, but Keuben/Rietman and Keuben/Snell were also well in front, with Hermans just behind. Already at the start of the second round, a nice battle for the lead arose between Keuben/Rietman in first place and Hermans/Van den Boogaart in second place. Because they were pushing each other at the front, the sidecars of Keuben and Hermans took a big lead over the rest. After a few laps, Hermans was able to move into the lead and even pulled away from Keuben. This was until they were held up by another stranded sidecar and Keuben/Rietman were again right behind Hermans. Bax/Cermak were the unlucky ones in this heat. They were in good shape for a long time, but because they had to stand still several times due to crashed sidecars in front of them, a good score was not possible. It didn't get more than eighth place. The entire heat was characterized by chaotic scenes in a now rainy setting. The rain did not do the already tough track any good. Practically all sidecars crashed or got stuck at some point. It didn't bother Hermans and Keuben, because they finished first and second at the finish, just like the first heat. Behind this it was Van Werven/De Veene in third place. Wilkinson, who was once again riding strongly, finished fourth in the heat and therefore third in the day's results, despite delays when they got stuck in a deep track. Leferink/Leferink came out of the chaos in fifth place, with Mulders/Van Deutekom in sixth place, who now received pay for their work.
So Hermans took the full spoils in Oldebroek, followed by Keuben in second and Wilkinson/Millard in third. The next ONK Sidecars is on April 30 in Halle.
