Who will take the first ONK Sidecars win in Varsseveld in 2023!?
This Sunday the ONK Sidecars will start in the Achterhoekse Varsseveld. In addition to the Sidecar Masters, the first championship competitions are also on the menu for the ONK Quad Masters and the NK categories for sidecars and quads. All participants are eager to score in the first real competition of 2023, but will have to deal with a tough but wide sand track. A spectacle guaranteed for the spectators!
At the ONK Sidecars the teams are certainly ready to fire again. #82 Bax/Cermak come to the start with a brand new WSP/Husqvarna sidecar and their goal is victory and nothing else than that, after all, Bax/Cermak are the reigning World and Dutch champions! The main opponents are Hermans/Van den Boogaart and they were already the boss of team Bax during the exciting opener in Eersel. Both teams are therefore ideal contenders to win the first match for points next Sunday. Team Bax and team Hermans will certainly face strong opposition from Keuben/Rietman and Van Werven/De Veene. After all, it was not without reason that these two sidecars were on the podium during many ONKs last year and they also showed in Eersel that 2023 will certainly be a repeat of events. Perhaps even Keuben/Rietman or Van Werven/De Veene can checkmate everyone! Other outsiders for the podium and seen customers in the top ten include the brothers Leferink, Weijers/Van der Putten, Van de Lagemaat/Van Hal, Wesselink/Vincent and Kops/De Laat. Team Kops is not the only left sidecar on the ONK scene this time because we see Mike Keuben/Zac Snell back on the left green-blue-white VMC sidecar. These two left sidecar teams are also joined by the left sidecar of the British Wilkinson/Millard. They come from across the sea to Varsseveld on their new sparkling blue-pink sidecar to settle the battle between the Dutch cracks. Speaking of Dutch cracks, only very recently did Daniël Willemsen announce that he would also appear at the start in 2023. He comes into action with the Belgian Debruyne in the sidecar. Willemsen, the ten-time World Champion and Dutch champion in 2020, is always a force to be reckoned with and a feast for the eyes of the cross enthusiast.
All in all, a very nice poster with ONK Sidecar Master teams that did everything they could to score in Varsseveld.
In addition to the ONK Sidecars, we will of course also see the ONK Quads at the starting gate for the first time in 2023. Last year there was tension to the bone several times during the many ONK duels between Maessen, Phoelich, Haverdil, Van Lith, Roks and De Vries. However, in the end no one was a match for southern neighbor Jan Vlaeymans who took the title. 2023 promises to be just as exciting a season as last year, with spectacular newcomer Julian Veldman who has switched from sidecars to quads.
Both the NK Quads and the NK Sidecars will also make an appearance in Varsseveld. Many National Championship competitions often have an exciting and dramatic course. Contenders in the NK Sidecar this year are undoubtedly the Verhees brothers and team Van Werven/Maas. However, Bakkenist Nick Maas was injured in the preparation and the question is who can Ruben Van Werven compete with? In addition to these two contenders, there are numerous other combinations at the start from Belgium, but also from Friesland to Westland and all other corners of the Netherlands. Special attention is of course paid in Varsseveld to the sidecars from the region. Beunk/Roes, Seesink/Wiegerinck, Dinkelman/Neijenhuis, Hoftijzer/Waanders, team Rutgers and Neijenhuis/Van der Kolk, among others, will fight for what they are worth for the Achterhoek home crowd.
Entrance to this fantastic day of Sidecar and Quad Motocross costs 20 euros for adults. Youth from 13 to 17 pay 10 euros and children up to 12 years old can enter for free.
The VAMAC has perfectly prepared the De Vennebulten circuit, but the wet weather on the day before the ONK will make the circuit difficult for all participants. The weather on Sunday itself promises to be practically dry. The circuit in Varsseveld is always suitable for exciting cross competitions, wet or dry. The track is wide enough and multiple lines are always possible.
Cross circuit De Vennebulten is located directly on the N18 between Varsseveld and Lichtenvoorde and is therefore easily accessible. Parking is available directly next to the site.
All in all, enough ingredients to experience a great day of motocross!
