Dutch MX Season Opener on March 5 in Lierop
After a winter with hardly any motocross competitions, MAC Lierop will give the final kick-off of the Dutch motocross season for 5 on Sunday, March 2023. The legendary circuit “De Herselse Bossen” forms the backdrop to the Dutch MX Season Opener with a very strong field of participants.
This Warm Up competition is a perfect opportunity for the Grand Prix, EMX and ONK riders 85-125-250-500cc to gain some extra competition rhythm before their competition starts, as the Lieropse season opener takes place a week before the first Grand Prix in Argentina and two weeks before the start of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Harfsen.
There are hardly any competitions in Brabant anymore where we can see the Dutch top crossers at work. This is the case because of this match.
Jarne Bervoets and Dean Gregoire will be at the start in the 85cc class. Bervoets will spend his last year on the 85cc machine because next year he will switch to a larger cylinder capacity. There is also a strong field of participants for the women with Shana van der Vlist, Lotte van Drunen, Jenitty van der Beek, Lynn Valk (vice world champion) and Danee Gelissen at the starting gate.
Amandine Verstappen and the German Larissa Papenmeier will also brave the heavy sand of Lierop. The 125cc class is represented by, among others, Gyan Doensen and Jayson van Drunen.
The MX2 class will certainly provide fireworks in Lierop with names such as Jago Geerts, Rick Elzinga, Thibault Benistant, Kay de Wolf and Roan van de Moosdijk. With Kay Karssemakers, Cas Valk, Ivano van Erp, Andrea Bonacorsi, Karlis Alberts Reisulis and the British Joel Rizzi from the Riley Racing Yamaha team, the MX2 class has a very strong composition in Lierop.
There are big guns at the start in the 500cc class. How about Jorge Prado, Calvin Vlaanderen, Romain Febvre, Mitch Evans, Harri Kullas, Adam Sterry, Davy Pootjes and Micha Boy de Waal? But the fast Belgian Brent Van Doninck will also appear at the starting gate. Other great names are Max Nagl, Henry Jacobi, Marcel Conijn, Twan van Essen, Kjell Verbruggen, Pauls Jonass, Brian Bogers, Sven van der Mierden, Micha Boy de Waal and Freek van der Vlist.
KTM Netherlands will also once again provide demonstrations with their E-Minis for children aged 5 to 10 years (depending on height/weight) who would like to get on a motorcycle. Between 11.00 a.m. and 15.00 p.m. they will be welcomed by a professional certified trainer to make their test laps on a specially prepared circuit with E-mini bikes. You can register for free on site with the KTM trainers, where clothing, helmet and boots will be provided.
The Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop costs €18 for adults aged 25,00 and over. Young people aged 13 to 17 pay €12,50. The event is freely accessible to children up to 12 years old. The tickets are available at the box office.
