250SX San Diego: Jett Lawrence dominates!
After the cancellation of Oakland last weekend, San Diego hosted the second round of the Monster Energy Supercross championship yesterday. Jett Lawrence (HRC-Honda) continued his momentum at the Snapdragon Stadium! The Australian superstar won ahead of RJ Hampshire (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) and Cameron McAdoo (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki).
The big absentee in the final was KTM factory rider Max Vohland. After a fall in the heat, things went wrong again for the young talent in the last round of the repechage.
At the start of the 250SX final, Levi Kitchen suffered a spectacular decline. For Jett Lawrence it was 'business as usual'. The 19-year-old Aussie took the holeshot and would lead from start to finish. Although he was up to 5 seconds ahead, he eventually crossed the finish line with a bonus of more than 3,5 seconds.
Enzo Lopes showed at the start of the race that his second place in the heat was no fluke. The fast Club MX Yamaha Brazilian finished fourth in the final. McAdoo took over Hampshire and tried to close the gap with Lawrence in the second half of the match. However, Hampshire had the longest breath and passed McAdoo for P2! Lopez and Pierce Brown rounded out the top 5.
In the Lites standings, Jett Lawrence is further ahead. “Jettson” is now six points ahead of RJ Hampshire, who in turn has four points more than Cameron McAdoo.
