MON: Van den Heuij and Van den Heuij smell the title
Bjorn van den Heuij /Sten van den Heuij did excellent business last Sunday in the battle for the Dutch Inter-Sidecar Championship. At the Nieuw Zevenbergen motor park, the duo was the most consistent of the day with a second and third place in the heats and thus took the day's victory. In the battle for the title, the duo opened up a lead of 82 points. Add to that the depreciation of the two worst results so far of 86 points and there you have the lead. With two games to go, the duo still needs 72 points to win the championship.
With a sixth and first place in the heats for the sidecar inters, second place in the daily classification went to Koen Grondman/Jens Vincent. The last place on the podium was decided based on the second heat. Aaron Bens/Joep van Leuken fell just short with a first and seventh place. Third place went to Patrick Greup/Marc van Deutekom with a fourth and second place in the heats. Nick Deschepper/Sven Gielkens completed the top/five of the day.
In the national sidecar class, the battle for the championship has become more exciting. Leaders Max Bevers/Tayim Kaethoven only managed a points score in the first heat. After their zero score in the second round, the duo has a deduction of zero points for this season. The duo enters the last two matches with a 45-point lead over Rik Senders/Mies de Louw. However, a new setback in the last two games could have major consequences. Boyd Verhees/Peer Verhees were supreme in the daily rankings. Both heats were won, with the caveat that only the second in the heat was still in the same lap. Rik Senders now rode together with Pim Lambrechts to second place in the daily rankings with twice third place in the heats. Tim Barink/Gijs Barink also took their place on the podium with eighth and second place in the heats.
