MXGP Trentino: Tim Gajser scores the double
The second series of MXGP in Trentino was also a success for Tim Gajser. He wins the GP of Trentino with a double series victory and thus consolidates the lead in the world championship standings.
Gajser already won the first series earlier this afternoon, but had to watch as Spaniard Jorge Prado took the holeshot this time. That was just a snapshot because Prado dropped his GasGas and had to restart in fifth place. Gajser was thus presented with the leadership position on a silver platter.
Due to mistakes by Seewer and Bogers, Tim Gajser did not have to deal with any pressure. Maxime Renaux was also able to benefit from this to take third place. This time Coldenhoff started poorly and made another mistake along the way, meaning that a podium was far away for the Dutchman. Half the race Gajser had an 11 second lead over Seewer, who then had Prado visit again.
It was Alberto Forato who thrilled the Italian tifosi by putting Prado under pressure. This unfortunately ended with a crash that dropped him to P18. With five minutes of racing left, all eyes were on the Seewer-Renaux-Prado trio with second place as their target. Despite the massive jumps that Seewer made, he still had to deal with pressure from Renaux. On lap 15 the Swiss gave up and Renaux moved into second place.
It must be one of Gajser's easiest series victories. The famous Gajser hill in Pietramurata turned bright yellow after a new victory on this beautiful circuit. His fans had brought quite a few yellow smoke bombs from Slovenia. He wins the GP of Trentino and consolidates his leading position in the standings. The next race is scheduled in two weeks and will be held in Kegums, Latvia.
