HOT: Ryan Dungey starts in AMA Pro Motocross
The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team today announced the surprising news that nine-time AMA Supercross and Motocross Champion Ryan Dungey will compete in the first two races of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
Dungey will race with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team at the Fox Raceway National in Pala on May 28 and the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Sacramento on June 4. He retired as a professional rider in 2017 and will return to the starting gate with the iconic #5 on his number plate. Antonio Cairoli previously announced that he would also participate in these two races.
Ryan Dungey: "I'm very happy to have the opportunity to race for Red Bull KTM for the first few rounds of the season. I've had a lot of success with KTM in my last few years of racing and it's exciting to go back and race for the same team with a lot of great staff. I have a lot of confidence in the team knowing that I have good people behind me and that we have a great dirt bike among us. This is a tough class and it's been a long time since I've been at the start with them, but I'm happy to be at the start again. I have a lot of respect for the sport and the riders, so I'm not going to underestimate anyone. I'm excited to race everyone and see what we can do. "
