Jorge Prado wins first series in Portugal
The first series in the MXGP class has just been held in a sunny Agueda. That was won by the Spaniard Jorge Prado who managed to hold off a strong driving Brian Bogers. Championship leader Gajser finished third.
Jorge Prado once again squeezed a holeshot out of his Red Bull KTM with polesitter Glenn Coldenhoff on his wheel. Once again, Brian Bogers had a good start and came out of the starting blocks in third place. Tim Gajser, the leader in the standings, finished sixth after four laps. Jeremy Van Horebeek ended up in the middle of the pack when the gate fell and had to work hard to make up places from thirteenth.
Bogers overtook his compatriot Coldenhoff to take P2. On lap 5 it was Gajser who moved up to sixth place to begin his pursuit of Jeremy Seewer. In the meantime, Bogers had followed Prado's rear wheel closely. Half the race he seemed to be preparing an attack for the leading position. With six minutes to go, Gajser moved up to fourth place and thus had a view of Coldenhoff's spot.
Meanwhile, Bogers bravely continued to eat sand thrown up by Prado's rear wheel and Gajser was able to take third place. With three minutes of the game left, Brian Bogers had to step back from the role a bit. Van Horebeek had meanwhile moved up to 9thde place. Tim Gajser put pressure on Bogers and Prado in the last lap, but was just too late to improve. Prado wins the first series ahead of Bogers, Gajser and Coldenhoff. With Calvin Vlaanderen, there were no fewer than three Dutch people in the top ten.
The second series of MXGP will follow later at 18:00 PM.
