Preview: 125 European 2022cc Championship
It is and remains difficult to look ahead because, especially in our sport, a winter break can mean a world of difference. However, we are going to try anyway, we are looking ahead to the European 125cc Championship Presented by FMF Racing. In this class we are looking for the successor to Valerio Lata, the Italian won the title and will switch to EMX250 in the coming season. In our opinion, the biggest contenders for gold come from the Netherlands!

In our opinion, the KNMV has the biggest contenders in their ranks with Cas Valk and Ivano van Erp. Valk was part of the KNMV Junior team last year, but the collaboration fell far short of expectations. The crosser from Nijverdal will be released this year in the colors of Fantic Racing! At the Italian team he must succeed Andrea Bonacorsi, who won the title in 2020. Last year, Hakon Osterhagen seemed to take the title again, but a serious leg injury threw a spanner in the works for the Norwegian and his team. The former ONK 85cc champion has everything to end this season with the title.
This also applies to Van Erp, who is under contract with Yamaha. The Brabander won three matches last year and he also has his sights set on the title for the coming season. The YZ125 rider managed to win the first race of the season.

Other riders from whom we expect a lot are Alexis Fueri, Ferruccio Zanchi, Edgar Canet and Marc-Antoine Rossi. Fueri is Valk's teammate and Zanchi, like Van Erp, rides at MJC-Yamaha. Canet suffered a serious back injury a year ago, he came back quickly, but later in the season he had to take a step back. Rossi managed to take a moto victory in front of his own crowd during his first season in this class. The Tech32 rider could very well become involved in the title fight.

The Latvian brothers Alberts Karlis Reisulis and Janis Reisulis could be at each other's throats on a regular basis. The youngest in particular makes a big impression during his guest appearances in Arco di Trento after his EMX85 season. After many youth titles, the real work now begins for Vitezslav Marek. The Czech won the EMX85 final and is ready for the next step. In addition to Canet, Spain also has Elias Escandell and Antonio Gallego from Ibiza who can ensure daytime successes. This also applies to August Frisk, the Swede who has prepared well for this championship with Steven Frossard.
Belgium Netherlands:
In addition to Valk and Van Erp, the Netherlands has a rider in Mirco ten Kate who could well provide a surprise. Damian Knuiman and Lotte van Drunen also take action, bringing the number of Dutch people to five. With only two riders, Belgium remains slightly behind, Troy Verburgh and Tias Callens are in action on the Matterley Basin circuit.
