MXGP Matterley Basin postponed until next weekend
Ominous reports came out of Matterley Basin yesterday. An announcement was sent out to the world that was being reviewed today to organize or postpone. The news just came from Infront Moto Racing to postpone the race for a week.
Yesterday there were already problems due to heavy gusts of wind in the riders' park, resulting in damage. A tree also blew over and ended up on the circuit. Severe weather conditions locally in Matterley Basin as a result of Storm Eunice have forced the event to be postponed until next weekend. Despite many efforts and following numerous meetings with Hampshire's strategic planning group, made up of Winchester County Council, Police and Environmental Health, a government warning has been issued due to the strong gusty winds observed yesterday and expected to continue throughout the weekend.
Infront Moto Racing, the FIM and the local organizer have decided to postpone the event until next weekend. The main concern of Infront Moto Racing and all parties involved is the health and safety of everyone attending the event, whether public, riders, teams, employees or industry members.
The MXGP of Great Britain is postponed to the following weekend. The event will take place on February 26-27. This means that all tickets purchased for this weekend will be valid for the alternative date. Public areas remain closed and will reopen on time next week.
