VLM Reet: Yentel Martens and Brent Aerden at the party
It was Yentel Martens again who rose above the competition at the Inters 500 in Reet. On the circuit 'De Klak' he won both series. In the 250cc class it was Brent Aerden who won, he held off Kevin Schellens for the overall victory.
MC De Kleiduivels had set up another great organization there in Reet. The circuit is tough and requires a lot of sweating. Jens Van Meer had set the fastest time in the morning, but that did not impress Yentel Martens. During the first series, the JM Honda rider set out from the start to control the series with a controlling lead. Kevin Fors started in the wake of Martens but had to let Jens Van Meer pass on lap four. Yentel Martens won the first series with a 7 second lead over Van Meer. Arno Van Mieghem, on the other hand, got his bike stuck in the starting gate but recovered well to P8.
Rob Van De Veerdonk finished 9thde overall but was flagged as the best 250cc rider ahead of Kevin Schellens and Brent Aerden.
Yentel Martens again
Nothing new under the sun in series two. Once again Yentel Martens missed the mark at the start and never looked back. He won the series and therefore also the race at the Inters 500 with his fingers in his nose. Jens Van Meer had to fight from seventh place to the front, but he did so with bravado. He finished second ahead of Kevin Fors and Kevin Van Geldorp. Jordi Van Mieghem also pulled off a big catch-up race as he went from P12 to P6 in this second series. So there was a final victory for Yentel Martens ahead of Jens Van Meer and Kevin Fors.
In the Inters 250, Brent Aerden started in fifteenth place but then pulled hard to finish P9 overall and fastest in his class. With this he held off Kevin Schellens and Kristof Scheynen. Aerden thus won the competition and left the other two steps of the podium to Kevin Schellens (P2) and Rob Van De Veerdonk (P3).
