Jayson van Drunen happy with fourth place
Normally a rider is disappointed when he is next to the podium. This time this does not apply to Jayson van Drunen, who managed to score a nice fourth place on the Velke Uherce circuit. The Eindhoven native performed extremely well on the beautiful but difficult circuit in Slovakia. With a sixth and fourth place, the Yamaha rider finished fourth, just behind fellow countryman Gyan Doensen. And to think that the son of multiple Dutch Champion Marcel van Drunen broke both his wrists exactly nine weeks ago during the ONK!
Jayson van Drunen:
“On Saturday I managed to qualify ninth and I was satisfied with that. The start of the first moto was good and I managed to come out of the first corner in eighth place. After that I was able to quickly work my way up to sixth place. I had a good eye on my predecessors, but attacking was not an option. In the last lap Lotte stopped, so I came to fifth place, but a little later I was surprised and I crossed the finish line in sixth place. The second moto I had a great start and I entered the corner in third place. Despite the pressure from Doensen I was able to hold this place but he kept pushing. In the last laps he improved on the triple and I finished fourth. With that third place I would have been on the podium, but unfortunately.”
