Surgery for Adam Cianciarulo
Adam Cianciarulo has been suffering from a nerve in his elbow for a few years. Although it was still manageable in the past, it has now become worse, making an orderly level in the competition not possible. The American has decided to undergo surgery, which means he will not be in action for the rest of the season.
The Kawasaki Factory rider is now no longer available for the Motocross Des Nations. The goal is to be back in the 2022 Supercross season and hopefully he will be 100% fit again.
Adam Cianciarulo"I have been dealing with a problem with my ulnar nerve for the past few years. Randomly I started having issues with it towards the end of 2019. In 2020 it was mostly manageable and I honestly thought it was just arm pump. However, it got progressively worse this past season, to the point where I couldn't do more than a few laps per heat. After a lot of tests and scans, I received a nerve decompression treatment just before SX '21. That gave me some relief, but not enough to get me back to normal. I seem to gradually lose most of the strength in my right hand while driving. I've tried to be smart and do my best, but at this point the only logical decision is to get it fixed. It's a relatively simple procedure, but it will put me out of action for the rest of the season.
I learned a lot about focusing on the things you can control and not worrying about the things you can't. Ultimately, I am always grateful for my challenges and the things they teach me. The surgery is this morning and I'm glad it's taken care of so I can continue pursuing my goals and have fun on my dirt bike again. I will come back and be better than before. Thank you for your continued support. I'll talk to you again soon".
