EMXOpen Counter: Simon Jost wins by surprise
The Italian Davide Bortoli has lost all his chances of winning in the Czech Republic in the final rounds of the second series. The Slovakian Simon Jost took advantage of the blunders and was placed on the top step of the podium.
Dutchman Joel Van Mechelen took the lead in the first moto but soon had to let Filippo Zonta pass. He in turn got Davide De Bortoli on his roof and had to watch his compatriot cross the line as the winner. Six seconds later Micha-Boy De Waal finished second.
Filippo Zonta took the lead in heat two ahead of De Bortoli. De Waal crashed in the second corner and had to continue with a bent handlebar. Ultimately he would not make it to the finish. Then a battle arose between Zonta and Simon Jost for second place, but in the final phase it was leader Bortoli who crashed twice. Simon Jost won the heat ahead of Tim Koch. Jost wins the final score ahead of Zonta and De Bortoli. Jonas Salaets and Jilani Cambré did not reach the finish in this series. The latter sees his lead in the standings shrink to 4 points over first pursuer Nicolas Dercourt.
