The top day of Jilani Cambre
In the middle of the southern violence in the EMX Kept open one lowlander standing well Maggiora. Flying barber Jilani Camber (WMX Yamaha ) finished the first round of the EMX Open in fifth place. We visited the friendly Kempen resident in the paddock.
Micha Boy De Waal (second) and Joël Van Mechelen (tenth) also made positive comments in the timed training. For them, Maggiora did not deliver what was in it. After finishing seventh and sixth in the series Cambré, on the other hand the top five. Not bad for his first match in a long time!
Congrats JilaniDid you expect this yourself?
Jilani Camber: “Thanks, I secretly hoped for this result. Ultimately, it is also the shape and circumstances of the day that are decisive. I came 9th in the timed training. Afterwards I didn't really think there would be a top 5. Apparently yes, that makes it all the more fun!”
Such a special job when you return, and immediately perform strongly. I don't see many people imitating that.
Camber: “Maybe, in any case, it personally gives me great pleasure to drive like this straight away. However, I like this kind of circuit and I really enjoy doing it. Ultimately, there was a strong field of participants at the start with many evenly matched riders. That's why I was a bit dreaded by the heats, but in the end it went well. At the end of the first race I had a bit of a dip and had to give up 6th place. Fortunately, I still managed to get through in the second series.”
I was told that you have the enduro still missing?
Camber: "Actually yes! I have three years enduro and it's a very family affair. Especially within Husqvarna Belgium where Stefaan (ed. Minne) is almost the pacesetter. The atmosphere is good and it is just a very cool group.”
Does that mean you like motocross and enduro will combine?
Camber: “I would like it if there was a weekend without a competition in the VLM enduro to ride. I can't say too much about next year yet. The season has just started! This EMX Open experience also leaves you wanting more. Beautiful competitions, beautiful track, beautiful format in which you ride four times on one day…"
So we'll see you at work in the EMX Open?
Camber: “That is the intention. I would also like to join Oss and Loket! Two matches that are not too far away. The design of the EMX Open can be compared with the MX3 in which I have ridden in the past. It's nice that there is now some sort of follow-up to this so that there is a place where MX1 riders can compete at European level. I also know very well that I do this purely for fun. I will never become world champion!”
But perhaps the winner of the VLM opener in Tessenderlo tomorrow?
Cambre: “(laughing) Let's first see that we get home well. In any case, I'm looking forward to riding there too.”
