VIDEO: An electric starter for a YZ250
The Yamaha YZ250 is not difficult to start, but there is a kit to start the machine electrically. This is supplied by the Canadian company Panthera Motorsports.
You mainly install the set on the ignition side of the engine. There you install a new stator with flywheel and especially a new cover on which a starter motor is already attached. The kit also includes the necessary cabling and a battery holder that is mounted in the air filter box. All the plugs for the ignition are “plug and play” and therefore not a complicated job for specialists.
Panthera Motorsports also makes sets for the Honda CR500 and the Kawasaki KX500, among others. According to the company, these two can be started electrically without operating the decompression valve. You can find all information at https://pantheramotorsports.com
