Dean Ferris no longer behind the starting gate
During a live stream on Instagram, Dean Ferris announced that he will retire from his active motocross career. Ferris suffered a back injury last season, but according to the former MX2 and MXGP rider, that was not the only reason to hang up his helmet.
Last year in August, Dean Ferris crashed heavily during training in his home country and had to recover from a spinal fracture and broken ribs. He decided to retire after his injury, but it wasn't just the injury that influenced his decision. The situation surrounding the corona pandemic also made him decide that it was time to stop active motocross. However, he is not saying goodbye to the sport, but has now started giving training and guiding riders.
Ferris became Australian champion three times and won the MX2013 GP in Bastogne in 2. He then won both series by keeping Jordi Tixier behind him.
