Official: Coldenhoff to Yamaha factory team!
Yamaha Motor Europe just announced Glenn Coldenhoff as its teammate Jeremy Seewer and Ben Watson in the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team! The 29-year-old Dutchman wrote history with two consecutive MX of Nations victories and has already recorded five GP victories.
Coldenhoff rode for the Belgian Standing Construct for the past two seasons. Before that, he was a KTM factory rider for two years but made his MXGP debut in 2015 with Suzuki. For the popular North Brabander, the switch to the Yamaha factory team is the culmination of a very nice journey.
For the first time in a long time, Glenn will compete again for a Dutch team and on Yamaha. The Hoff took his first international steps as a youth rider with Van de Laar Yamaha and already rode for Yamaha in the MX2010 World Championship via Jumbo TVE MX in 2011 and 2. At Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP, Coldenhoff meets team owner again Louis Fosters who, through Wilvo, was a sponsor of Negaan JM Racing for which he competed in 2012.
Coldenhoff is currently recovering from a neck injury he sustained during the Belgian GP in Lommel. The Dutch star has already started his rehabilitation and is confident that he will be top fit again in 2021 and ready to fight for GP victories. Striking detail, after years of being one of the figureheads of Red Bull Netherlands, Glenn will now of course switch to rival Monster Energy.
Glenn Coldenhoff: “I feel very welcome by the entire Yamaha family. From the first moments we met, I felt that a highly motivated and ambitious team was waiting for me. I'm really grateful for this opportunity... I'm confident I can still progress, win races and fight for the title. I know Yamaha will give me everything to achieve these goals. My recovery is going well, and I can't wait to jump on the blue bike soon!”
Louis Fosters: “It's great to have Glenn Coldenhoff on board for the years to come. He is a fantastic rider who continues to make progress year after year. I really believe that in the Yamaha structure he will be able to achieve the best possible results on the YZ450FM.”
Alexander Kowalski: “We are really happy to welcome Glenn to the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team. He is a very professional, goal-oriented and dedicated rider who is committed to his sport and getting the best out of himself. He has a lot of experience and has proven countless times over the past two years that he is capable of winning GPs. We are therefore very happy to welcome him to the Yamaha family. He will compete in the Dutch Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team alongside Jeremy Seewer and Ben Watson. I know Glenn and Jeremy already have a good relationship, which will be fun to see them riding together and pushing each other in the competitive MXGP class. Together with Jeremy we have a strong team with a lot of experience. That's fun for Ben to learn and grow from. It is an exciting time for Yamaha and our Factory MXGP team to compete in the 2021 MXGP World Championship with this incredible trio.”
