Jago Geerts stays at Yamaha for two more years!
MX2 top rider Jago Geerts (20) has extended his contract with Yamaha for another 2 years. We will definitely see the young Belgian in blue until 2022. Geerts will have a new teammate next year in the person of Maxime Renaux.
Jago made his MX2018 debut in 2 with the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team. The combination of the former youth world champion and the Yamaha YZ250F was already very productive. In his rookie World Championship season he immediately scored a very first GP podium and finished eighth in the final standings.
After a year of learning and improving at the highest level, Geerts took bronze in the final standings last year. In 2 he also scored six podium places. This year Jago won three GPs and emerged as a title candidate.
Jago Geerts: “I am now competing for Yamaha as a factory rider for the third season. My YZ250FM suits my riding style perfectly and the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team has become like a family to me with all great people with a great passion for their work. I am therefore assured of top material for the next two seasons. I'm really happy that I can sign with Yamaha for another two years. The last three years have been a lot of fun, and it's really cool that I extended my contract. Everything is going well within our team and we have had some very good races this year. I am very happy with my bike, the Yamaha YZ250FM, so it is good for me to stay with Yamaha.”
