Duncan extends WMX world title, Van De Ven was never a poet
Nancy van de Ven did not manage to win her first world title. The Yamaha rider finished second in Arco di Trento, where Courtney Duncan (1-3) took the day's victory. The Kawasaki rider also erased her four-point deficit, prolonging the title. Van de Ven (5-1) and Larissa Papenmeier (2-4) stand next to the 24-year-old lady on stage. The same three ladies also take the best three places in the final standings this season with only a seven-point difference.

When the starting gate falls, Van de Ven is narrowly better than Duncan, but Sara Andersen is even better over the starting gate. She goes to the right and that also forces Van de Ven to Duncan who becomes unbalanced and hits the ground! Behind Papenmeier, Andersen comes out of the first corner second, but things go wrong in the second corner. The Swedish and Van de Ven hit each other, causing them to fall and many ladies to follow. This crash also included Fontanesi, meaning three of the four title candidates have to chase. At the front, Papenmeier immediately takes distance and she already has a six-second lead when completing the first lap. Anne Borchers follows her compatriot at a considerable distance and Valk takes third place. The JK Racing rider takes second place early from the German Suzuki rider. Duncan is now working his way forward and with eight minutes left on the clock, Duncan passes the fallen Valk from second place. The gap to leader Papenmeier is 20 seconds, so victory is no longer feasible. The New Zealander is the fastest lady and catches up with the 30-year-old Papenmeier who crashes just before the sign of the last two laps! This allows Duncan to connect and in the last lap she takes over the lead. Duncan wins ahead of Papenmeier, Valk and Shana van der Vlist. Van de Ven looks in the back of Van der Vlist, but due to a straggler, the Yamaha rider cannot attack fourth place in the last lap. Fontanesi crosses the finish line in sixth place and seems to be eliminated from the title battle.

Duncan starts the last round of the season with a five-point lead over both Van de Ven and Papenmeier. The best start goes to 22-year-old Van de Ven, who immediately closes the door and takes the lead ahead of Fontanesi, Van der Vlist, Papenmeier, Duncan and the American Jamie Astudillo. At the front, Van de Ven tries to gain distance and it is Van der Vlist who works his way up to second place. Duncan comes fourth from the first round and calmly examines Fontanesi's lines. After five minutes, the Italian loses third place to Duncan, who also passes Van der Vlist a little later. The gap to the leader is then 2,8 seconds, but this only increases. With a few minutes left on the clock, a lady falls and the yellow flag is waved. Van de Ven clearly takes his foot off the gas, but both Duncan and Fontanesi, who is getting better at the game, continue. This significantly reduces Van de Ven's lead. Fontanesi then takes over second place to push for Van de Ven in the final phase. This one doesn't bend and wins for Fontanesi and Duncan. Third place is enough for her because both heats have 207 points, but because Duncan has won the most heats, she is the champion again!
