Preview KNMV ONK Youth 2020
Making a preview for the first match of the KNMV Open Dutch Youth Championship happens often, but not in August! However, this weekend the ONK finally starts. MC Boekel has taken up the challenge to be the first to battle the coronavirus.
We look ahead to the first major showdown of the season on the 'Circuit Bezuidenhout' where Peter van Uden and his people hope to receive many riders.

In the lightest class we expect Kash van Hamond in the leading group with his teammate Kyan Vermeer. The same goes for the British Harry Dale and Logan Baker. It is nice to see that 'old' surnames are returning to the youth, such as Vital van Nooten, Milan Ellenbroek, Nelson Braakman, Nick de Jong and Swen Klein Kromhof!
65cc KW
A number of strong debutants will have to compete against Dex van den Broek and Sjevy Klokgieter. One of the newcomers is Torre van Mechgelen, who won the 50cc title last year. Other riders to look out for are Kenzo Jaspers, Cody de Beer, Zane Sibley-Deakin and Liam Flonk.
65cc GW
We expect a lot from Jayson van Drunen and Dean Gregoire! Both Brabanders are starting their first full season in this class. Gregoire was on the podium twice last season while Van Drunen took the title at the Kleine Wielen. The Team Youth Pro MX rider has already competed in several competitions this year, including the Italian Championship. The 10-year-old KTM rider has already done some great things there.
Van Drunen (11) has rarely been behind the starting gate this season. After one season of 65cc Small Wheels, Jenairo Beerens is already switching to the 65cc Big Wheels. We also expect great things from the fast Limburger. Here too we see well-known names from the past such as Seth Priem, Jeremy Bouchee and Jannes Vos, Remy van Rees' nephew!
85cc KW
These riders will be competing against the 65cc Big Wheels which could cause some confusion at some point. The Belgian Lukas Spigeleer could make a good impression and that also applies to the Limburgers Deff Gijsen and Djanno van Zoest. Kyshara Das, daughter of former GP rider Michael Das, will make her debut in this class.
85cc GW
Last year's leading actors have also left here. This automatically creates new names in the leading group. We are preparing for great matches with Bradley Mesters as favorite. From now on, the Brabander will drive for F&H Racing Shop Team where he can enjoy guidance from Marc de Reuver. Mesters will have to compete against Damien Knuiman, Mick Kennedy, Wessel van Wijk, Levi Schrik and Gyan Doensen. Furthermore, we are looking forward to Lotte van Drunen who has skipped the 'small wheels'. Something that also applies to Maxime Lucas.

Even in the 'toughest class' it is difficult to identify a favorite. Most eyes will be on Kay Karssemakers. The Boxtel native will encounter resistance from Scott Smulders, Nikita Kucherov, Sem de Lange and Ivano van Erp! The Ossenaar is making his debut in this class, but he has already shown great things during a previous competition. We are also curious about the newcomers here; Cas Valk and Karlis Alberts Reisulis.
