VIDEO: measuring the “sag” with the Motoklik system!
One of the basic settings of the suspension of your dirt bike is the so-called “sag”. It's the amount your bike settles into the suspension when you sit on it with all your gear on. The sag is therefore determined by your weight. You understand that there must be two of you to perform this measurement. With the future Motoklik system you can do this perfectly alone.
The Irish company Motoklik is developing a system to adjust the suspension of your motocross bike in a more scientific way. This uses sensors, an app and GPS technology. You can read how it works in one earlier article. You can also adjust the famous “sag” with the same instruments. This is the very first adjustment you need to make when purchasing a new dirt bike.
Adjusting the sag is traditionally done with a tape measure and a companion who carries out the measurement while you sit on the motorcycle in full motocross outfit. With the Motoklik system, the meter can be thrown overboard and your friend can continue sipping his coffee. The app on your smartphone tells you very accurately how large the sag is and whether more or less preload is needed on the suspension. MXMag hopes to be able to subject Motoklik's system to a thorough test soon.
