BMB informs about 2020 sports permits
We are still in an exceptional crisis situation with a serious impact on the practice of our favorite hobby. Since the start of the lockdown on March 13, BMB has been forced to suspend all activities. Fortunately, partly thanks to the efforts of our affiliated associations, the VMBB and the FMWB, it was possible to resume motorcycle training and more and more circuits have been opened since May 4.
How you can train safely, read 'corona-proof' you read here. However, the organization of sports competitions remains prohibited until July 31.
Many organizers have taken the initiative to postpone their competition or are still looking for a new organization date later in the season. We thank them for their efforts in these difficult times. This will make it possible to offer a valuable Belgian championship to license holders in certain disciplines this year, of course subject to the evolution of this health crisis. However, several organizers have been forced to cancel their competition and have been unable to find an alternative solution. They have all already announced that they will organize their event again in 2021.
The Corona crisis therefore has consequences for the annual permits that were already issued this year. During the lockdown, permit holders had no opportunity to train or participate in competitions.
Permit holders have been able to resume training since May 4. With the opening of the circuits in Belgium and soon the reopening of the European borders, riders in possession of a sports competition permit or training permit (Europe) can once again fully enjoy their permit to practice their favorite sport. These permits allow insured training at all circuits in Europe from the moment of subscription until the end of the year. Click here for more information about the BMB permits.
We will have to wait for the evolution of the current crisis situation to know when sports competitions can be resumed and how the 2020 sports season will further evolve.
The BMB Executive Office, in consultation with the affiliated associations, the VMBB and the FMWB, has decided to grant compensation to the 2020 sports permit holders. This compensation will be different in each discipline and will depend on the impact of the crisis on training and competitions. The modalities can therefore only be determined at the end of the season when we will know the impact on the 2020 season.
Our greatest concern remains the health of our riders, passengers, officials, organizers and volunteers. We hope that the entire population will strictly adhere to government measures, so that we can resume sports competitions soon.
