Surprising Jasikonis wins MXGP qualifying in Valkenswaard
There was a lot to see during this series because something happened every round, making it a fun viewing piece. The holeshot was for reigning world champion Tim Gajser. Calvin Vlaanderen soon had to step aside with a problem that happened off-screen.
Herlings had to find his rhythm in the first laps, causing Prado to overtake him. Clement Desalle crashed in a bend and had to do everything again. Consternation on lap six when Gajser's Honda stalled and did not come back to life. With Gajser out it was now Jorge Prado who took over the lead. In the meantime, Herlings had advanced to second place and got into the leader's wheel quite quickly. The Bullet overtook Prado and a few corners later Arminas Jasikonis also overtook the Spaniard. The Husqvarna rider was going fast and had no intention of turning off the gas tap and resolutely pulled towards leader Herlings.
On lap nine, Jasikonis was able to overtake the Dutchman and drive to the finish. Herlings no longer pushed and finished second ahead of Prado and Jonass. Coldenhoff came on strong and finished sixth. Van Horebeek became the best Belgian with eighth place. Jasikonas has already won pole before, that was during the GP of Portugal in 2017.
