Paulin: “I felt strong but it was a bad weekend.”
For Louis Vosters, the home Grand Prix of his WILVO-MonsterEnergy-Yamaha Factory looked very different than expected. Gautier Paulin has already won this GP twice in the past, while Jeremy Seewer also knows his way around the sand. It was a last weekend for the three Yamaha riders, here they look back on the Valkenswaard weekend.
Gautier Paulin: “My start was good, but there was a big crash that bothered me. It's a shame we had a problem on Saturday. No excuses, but starting here from fourteenth place is difficult. At the start of the second heat I came into hard contact with the side and injured my ribs. I had a hard time breathing the entire moto. The feeling here was good, I felt strong, but all in all it was a bad weekend."
Arnaud Tonus: “It was very difficult this weekend. On Saturday I felt that my speed was good and I also felt good in the warm up. In the first moto I got a good start but was hit by Pauls Jonass, causing me to fall and have to start a catch-up race from the back. In the second moto I stalled the engine at the start and it was horrible. I don't know exactly what went wrong, but when I was driving again I fell twice. It was a bad weekend for me. We now have the weekend off, which is good to give my thumb some extra recovery time."
Jeremy Seewer: “To end the weekend with a DNF is very difficult. I got a good start twice. In the first moto I crashed and had to come back from midfield. That is never nice in these circumstances. My glasses became full of sand and I had to change glasses. It was disappointing to finish fourteenth. In the second moto I had a problem with my front brake, but I still managed to get a good start. Unfortunately, Jorge Prado crashed right in front of me. I hit his motorcycle at high speed and fell."
