Geerts about his fourth place in Lacapelle Marival.
Kemea Yamaha rider Jago Geerts had a solid weekend with two fourth places in Lacapelle Marival. He was also able to secure a tenth place in the Superfinal (second MX2 rider). These were his final preparations of the preseason in the run-up to the world championships that start in two weeks.
Geerts about the competition: “My speed was very good in the first race. As the minutes passed I started having more and more problems with pumped arms. Because of this I had to reduce my speed. Also in the second series I was at the front in the first corner after the start. On the third lap I made a mistake and my front wheel slipped. Fortunately, there were no major consequences. After picking up my bike I came back into the race in sixth place. Once I found my rhythm I was able to climb to fourth place. “
“In the super final, the sixteen best classified riders from both classes were allowed to take a spot behind the starting position. I was quite good at the start even though I had an MXGP rider on both sides of the starting gate. Physically I could compete with the top riders in the MXGP in this race. The track was difficult for this last heat of the day because of the deep ruts. I have consciously chosen not to take any risks here. I was able to stay in the wheel of the Brit Shaun Simpson for a long time, an opportunity I did not want to miss to learn from an MXGP rider. In the end I finished tenth and I'm quite happy with that".
Team manager Marnicq Bervoets: “Jago drove a great race. These types of competitions are very important in preparation for the start of the world championship, but a rider should not take any risks here. It was also Jago's first race of the season on hard ground. When I analyze Jago's performance today, I conclude that as a team we are completely on schedule. In two weeks the real work begins when the world championships begin in Matterley Basin, Great Britain."
