Stefan Everts had to go under the knife again: He still has two toes left!
The ten-time world champion had to go to the hospital again last Thursday for another amputation. One and a half toes were removed there as a result of his malaria infection that he contracted in Congo last year in November.
It must have been mentally difficult for Everts to bear, as he saw the toes disappear step by step on both feet. Last week there was yet another amputation, which now leaves him with two toes on his left foot. Last year, Stefan Everts rode a charity enduro in Lubumbashi with his friend Thierry Klutz, where he became infected by the malaria mosquito. We wish Stefan a lot of courage.
